it doesn't always mean anything but Travis dated a black woman for years before Swift. The biggest problem with TS is that her music is fucking basic, her lyrics are stuck in high school mode, she needs sick beats and better producers, and her everygirl act no longer flies as a billionaire.

It's equally preposterous because she has explicitly been pro-Dem /democracy, stumped for Kamala, has been vocally against white supremacy, has expressed disgust with the anti-woman candidates in her state. And it's clear the Kelces are Dems. Jason's wife came out against Trump.

I am not a Swiftie in the least so I'm glad they are talking about this weird take that Swift is MAGA because her boyfriend is a football player now or that she's white supremacist-coded because she's getting married. it's ALL over tiktok.

I think it would have been 'easier' to write Freaks narratively, but I don't think it would have been as fun to read with my own pontificating. The voices of the Village Voice are what made the paper and the book so fun to read.

I also love the somewhat innocent rhetorical question of Ed's, wondering why more people don't tackle the form of oral history. It's because as fun as the oral history is to read, that's as hard and hellish as it is report, write, and edit.

He didn't break news and wasn't known for his own writing, but he played a huge role in shaping the letters section and editing young writers who came through the paper.

I loved Ed's walk down memory lane—talking about some things I didn't get a chance to include—like the weird ATEX editing system we used and loved (a simple, text based word processor, I can still remember the feel of the keyboard, and the blinking amber light on the terminal).

One of my favorite reviews of The Freaks Came Out to Write was from Ed Park. Now, a very celebrated novelist (he's a Pulitzer Finalist in Fiction), Ed and I worked at the paper at the same time.

Her fiancé's brother is married to one of the highest rated podcasters, and she came out as being against Trump. The Kelce's may not be hardcore leftists, but I do not believe either of them are Trump. Travis dated a black woman for years before this! I'm not even a Swiftie and I feel aghast at this
