Yarn hot take #2: I hate "how to" books that use pattern abbreviations right off the bat, whether its for a super newbie in a beginner book or a more advanced one with its own (often nonstandard) terminology. The 1st few patterns should go "term (abrev.)" until people can get used to the new terms.

I started the project during our move, ran out of the yarn I had & was waiting to unpack the yarn to finish.
I lost the yarn. So, I ordered some.

In my media literacy exercises for my students, I stress a similar point: in the modern media ecosystem, it’s extremely unlikely that only one media outlet would cover a major story. Especially if it’s not a major one with investigative resources that you’ve heard of.
Quick reminder that if you see a headline from a source you’ve never heard of that isn’t being reported by anyone else, you really should do some due diligence before spreading it around as fact. There’s enough misinformation floating around already; no need to add more.

Federal employees have just been told they can't utilize their pronouns in emails and that man/boy=he, etc. It also goes in to who uses which bathrooms, etc., because the magits think trans and non binary persons are what make (all) women unsafe, rather than them looking in the mirror.
