🧵 A chance comment in a post has led me down a rabbit warren of Interactive Fiction memories, floppy diskettes, and apps on modern devices.

So this is going to be an ongoing thread about text adventure games, such as these “Lost Treasures of Infocom”.

Oh yeah, I‘d do the walk bit too. I’d probably cheat way more often in Winter, mind you 🤣 I had a fabulous disused railway line route until the office moved 😐

🤯 It blows my mind that 77million people 🗳️ for this.

Here 🇬🇧 we’ve had steady growing realisation from Brexit voters ~10y ago of what damage they did, but it has been slow. We call them Begretters, I think. There was a Twitter account!

🌡️ Then I got my sugar thermometer out and made a bowl of thick white Italian Meringue.

Both the Lemon Curd and Italian Meringue were new to me, and both seemed to come out well for my first time.

Haven’t cut into it yet, just before dinner, but maybe later 🤗

The Italian Meringue mix has been transferred to a blue piping bag and is being gently squeezed out of a cut in the end of the bag, held just above the Lemon Curd covered base in the lined square tin.

All of the Italian Meringue mix has been piped on top of the Lemon Curd layer in the cake, in a snaking pattern that goes around the edges from the top-left corner. It has not yet been smoothed out so the shape of the tube is still held.

🍋 I have been baking again! I just made a Lemon Meringue Bar, with a buttery biscuit base, Lemon Curd middle and Italian Meringue topping.

First I made a thick Lemon Curd, which I split into two, whipping one batch up into a light and creamy mix on top of the buttery biscuit base.

A thick mix of freshly made Lemon Curd, which is sitting in a bowl, still warm, on a cooling mat. A good 2/3rds of the mix have been removed into another bowl so I can see the texture of this batch.

I’m thinking so, sat outside in the warm Summer days would be a fine use of portability. I reckon there’ll be plenty of platform exclusives to keep me occupied.

I am sorely tempted but I’m resisting simply because I already have so many toys! 🧸

I gave up XBGP in 2020-ish because I wasn’t using it sufficiently. Made more sense for me to just buy games, so I’ve built the vast, vast majority of my games library on Xbox since 2006.

PS is my secondary device for platform exclusives only. Switch2 would (will?! 😜) be the same as PS for me 🤔

My Xbox is my games, YT, movies, Blu-ray Disc player, streaming TV, guitar playing, and music machine! Literally does everything, so I have spare backup boxes just in case ☺️

I’d mostly want to play Switch2 on my big tellybox but I suspect I’ll have a similar handheld journey as yourself…
