A new visitor for the yard today, as this lovely White Hawk stopped by with the intention of eating one of my other birds. The toucans were not amused.

These birds are common in northern Costa Rica, and they can't hunt in the rain so they will perch relatively low then.

My yard birds are a great alarm system. When I hear their shrieks, I'm pretty sure that an accipiter is paying a visit. This Cooper's Hawk 🪶was very successful at catching a juvenile American Robin. It's a tough world out there. Be alert, birdies!
