Corps are going full-loss leader to kill off any of the working-class-serving small bizes left

(Old money aristocrats don't like having to serve anyone besides themselves, and they hate it when ordinary people make money they can't take, so they're taking temporary losses to kill the competition).

LOL Eugenio Suarez was so bad defensively they just spent a ton of money to go full-on safe-glove-but-no-upside to replace him
January 13, 2026 at 6:43 PM
Corp Dems = Old Money Republicans that defected rather than share power w/ the Tea Party.

If you're wondering why they keep prying defeat from the jaws of victory, it's because they want liberal values to lose.

See the paper: "The Polarization of the Rich" by Sam Zacher for more info on this trend

Neoclassical economists saying they use data and science to make their interest rate calls is like an antivaxxer saying they use data and science to prove horse dewormer is safe for human use

People still think Neoclassical economists use hard data and empirically-founded science to create their theory & make their decisions

Alcantara is CF-capable w/ a strong arm, so if the bat is even league-average, playing him in RF should lead to >avg net production.

Fans have soured on him a little, but he was on a 30-HR pace thereabouts in 2025, & he nearly went 3/4/5 over his last 2-3 months while playing with a sports hernia.

Hey guess who didn't want to share power with the Tea Party Poor, so they covertly defected around 2008 and began calling themselves "Moderates" to pick supporters off from both sides? www.cambridge.org/core/journal...

LOL mostly kidding... precocious power hitters tend to get better with age, and Yainer has a few more years to grow in his game power output, and he has the ability for a well-rounded offensive game, even if he'll never be stellar behind the dish.

it's a profile I would buy-low on

It's winter league, he's playing against Single-A pitchers in minor league stadiums

If he's doing it in March, yee haw. But until then...
January 9, 2026 at 1:39 AM
Ugh you might need to wait a little longer than that
January 9, 2026 at 1:36 AM
Sounds like solid evidence in support of The Right To Remote Work, an initiative to bring back and promote small farms and independent artisans, an end to all pro-monopoly policies, & to rebuild small town economies.

Many urbanites live in the city because they have not, not because they want to.

The Third Way exists to pick off voters from both sides to stop either side from advancing their agendas. They just happen to like conservative policies much more, so they put way more effort into stopping liberals.

They defected cuz they do not share power or decision making w/ the working class.
January 8, 2026 at 3:00 AM
The Old Money GOP defected post-Tea Party. They use the moderation line as a cover for advancing what are actually the most conservative fiscal policies currently in favor today, as well as highly conservative social policies w/ just a hint of scruples.

They are not liberals. They hate liberalism.

Between this and the Cam Smith deal, I have a sneaking suspicion that the CHC front office is more comfortable with paying up to get the guy they have their sights set on than they should be.

The Cardinal Rule of Baseball GMing is you have to know which prospects not to trade or sell low on.

Yes! We need more non-binary thinking!

There are lots of massive crises right now that need immediate attention, definitely not denying that.

But we have to fix the environment to even have a chance to fix all the other things or have the fixes last, & we are quite literally out of time to waste.

We don't have four years to wait to heal the environment. People are so used to living in an polycrisis-based society that they are forgetting that no other concerns matter if the planet cannot support oxygen-breathing life, & we are currently seeing the start of a runaway collapse of our ecosystems
