You can't engineer a fully competitive College Football Playoff. The sport just doesn't work like that.

fun fact about that Rose Bowl in 1917:
UO didn't have money to send the team to Pasadena, so they sold the campus bookstore.
The company that ran it was so awful that in 1920 students, faculty, and staff raised money to buy it.
The Duck Store is the nonprofit co-op they established 105 years ago.

This is an absolutely terribly produced first drive by the TV crew. Weird angles for live plays. Rarely back to the wide view at the snap. Graphics on the screen instead of showing the game. Rough start for ESPN.
