This is smaller but I'm losing my mind with so many recent films/shows that have memory hits of like "man thinks of family" in the most obvious situations where a man would think of his family. The lack of trust in the audience and actors is so depressing

as someone who directed one of these (a long time ago) you would not believe how much pressure you have from admins and department heads to include this shot (and the others you can also imagine). Here was mine

this is really going to send me down a rabbit hole and I'll report back with my results in 3-10 business days

according to baseball savant he's the 9th slowest pitcher with runners on. He's slow, but not awful with no one on. Doesn't help he's had bad control all year which I imagine leads to a lot of long AB's as well

I just had to disassemble mine bc the disc wouldn't eject no matter how many reddit suggestions I tried. Had to do it manually. I'm now afraid to put another disc in there and in my head all I can think is, "This is the beginning of the end."

In my mind this is literally the coolest thing anyone can do

do the boys think about Ancient Rome every day? I don't think so. The weather? It actually might not be internet hyperbole to say they do on that (weather) front

My brother and I went to a screening of Dreamcatcher back in the day, solely because they screened an Animatrix short before it

I am the cousin of Tim! I'm the other film sicko in the family who would be impressed by him dropping your name about the tickets haha. We love your writing. Hopefully it was a really great time! I'm pretty dang jealous

Hell yeah. As the person who had to console my cousin about not being able to make it, I'm glad the tix went to the right person!

Oh no! That makes me think of the time I watched Naked Gun (too young) and I vaguely knew OJ was a football player. As a sports obsessed kid I asked my mom if she could get me a book on him and since this was like 96 or 97 she had to explain why that wasn't a good idea haha

Yeah that's where I land. Pretty much ignored him my whole film life and can't say there has been a time I've been like "damn wish I could watch some Bergman guilt free" bc there's a lot of movies out there I'll never get to that also weren't directed by a Nazi
August 2, 2025 at 7:14 PM
This article was pretty recent. It's not overly in depth but at least contextualizes it a bit more. Still think it's totally fine to ignore him but he did seem to own up to it and recognize his mistake in this regard. But also... Come on man

fun doc for the most part. My favorite part was him having a vape in his hand the whole time. Billy Joel rules

If you thought, "We Didn't Start the Fire seems like a dude just read a couple of newspapers and got excited about his new morning routine" boy do I have great news for you about the origins of that song
