Rural Municipalities of Alberta have been dealing with the issue of unpaid taxes from energy companies for years.

They told CBC News there is now about $253 million in unpaid taxes reported provincewide.

Overall inflation rate came in at 2.2 per cent. But that rate has been largely outpaced by food since August 2024, and in November it rose 4.7 per cent compared to this time last year.

That marked the largest increase to grocery price growth since December 2023.

Party leaders hold so much power because voters feel trapped by first-past-the-post and the big-tent parties it creates.

Proportional representation lets people switch parties and still get representation.

That gives leaders a real incentive to listen or lose support fast.
