It's large and annoying but it's not that large. Approval information for most procedures most of the time is fairly easy to get through various portals if you take the patient's card and type things in where requested or call and ask a CSR how the procedure and DX will code.

I have a Ph.D. in nuclear physics but I did my undergrad studies at a small liberal arts university and I have told many, many students that breadth early in their student careers is more important than depth. In most fields nobody really cares what you did as an undergrad, so learn to think.

But if you expose the self-interest in the operations of what is still the most powerful military and economic machine in the world to a voter base that we've just established is quite self-centered, what happens next? We are a year into our empires second suicide attempt driven by people thinking Americans are somehow losers of the international system we set up. The old way obviously didn't work. The polis, especially the shrinking white part will not trust the top men to look after their interests sight unseen.

Americans cannot be told we are doing things just because it is morally correct, we have to expose and underline the raw power politics underneath it and that will create its own risks.

USAID was both morally correct and a huge part of our foreign policy, and that duality is hard for people to grapple with in a sincere way. But if we're going to reconstitute USAID after this shitshow is over, we should think about the pressures that creates and how to mitigate them
