yeah... the recent polling reported by wapo that over 60% of american jews think israel is committing war crimes and 39% believe it is genocide *but* that most emphasize that it's the leadership, not the country itself is, imo, just another way to absolve themselves of any responsibility/blame

and i came out of that speech like "wow i got a good grade in yom kippur drasha, something that is normal to want and possible to achieve" because i was literally wearing a sign that says my true feelings which is that israel is starving gaza, which is also a fact

as an aside, one of the speeches this yom kippur was about communal responsibility
another was about... ok i admit i don't fully remember because i was uncaffeinated but it was about how we don't say how we're *really* doing but what if we wore a sign with our true feelings over our heads

one person asked me if i was concerned that wearing a badge that says "israel is starving gaza" will result in antisemitism and i told them i don't wear it in public, just at shul
because i have a responsibility for my community, because i hate the denial and silence
