This is awful. While UK-style Delay Repay 15 may be unrealistic, airlines should do better than a shrug.

Why is the Amtrak NEC network generally awful? And why in particular is the last train from Boston to DC at 1845, and gets in well into the morning morning, when the last day train from Euston to Glasgow Central leaves Euston at 1930 and arrives at 0008 despite the distance not being much longer?

Why did Virgin provide only five standard class cars on each nine-car Pendolino set? This was a massive mistake, the ones lengthened to eleven have two extra standard class cars, and one of the first class cars is now redesignated as "standard premium" (you get the seat, not the soft product).

How do people who move to countries like Japan cope with officialdom when they get letters in kanji and they can’t even read them to get an explanation in English over the phone?

This seems to be excessive cheek, otherwise Liz Truss would have lasted longer than 50 days!

I keep thinking that the Trump administration's ultimate goal is a network of paramilitaries.

I prefer to stay in the Square Mile than the West End as it is a bit cheaper and can have a very swift service to/from Paddington.

People moaning that UK bus franchising means subsidies - yes, this is actually the point. Buses are socially necessary and need to be subsidised. Not everyone has a car and not everyone can drive.

TIL that the Marches line will eventually be electrified, but "beyond 2035". At least @transportforwales.bsky.social are showing willing. As long as Reform don't get in, as they want to turn us into Trumpland.

Why do some British applications refuse to accept extenuating circumstances for resits? They say "you should have got special consideration from the exam board" but this doesn't help if the issue was poor teaching.

Modest proposal - the Home Nations (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland) should leave FIFA (after all they only reluctantly joined in the first place). I don't know if they can stay in UEFA unless UEFA also leaves FIFA.

I didn't expect The New World to be delivered via a local newsagent (and I don't know which) with no label, rather than by post. I have had at least two random other newspapers delivered without label.

Why do @officialgrammarly.bsky.social persist in offering their services to university students, and even suggest that using them can improve grades? Using Grammarly means getting a zero and having to appear before a University court to explain why you shouldn't be kicked out of the university.

I did once see a video, I think since deleted, claiming that an interval in Seattle was under two minutes, from train being fully left to next stopping. It was deleted maybe in part because the Victoria line in London can be 90 seconds from door opening to the next train door opening.

The thing about people who support Trump's policies of extrajudicial killings and ignoring habeus corpus is that they believe those policies would never affect them, while ignoring that without the rule of law and fair trials they can absolutely affect everyone. The same goes for human rights laws.

Will Via Rail ever provide a proper service between London and Toronto Union? The current six trains per day is ridiculous (it's the same as the air service between Heathrow and Pearson).
