My five star-review of Angel's Egg (1985) Rewatched Nov 20, 2025 "i can't believe that one egg was 40 eggs" devastating. beautiful. a sorrowful song from the watery depths of the subconscious. one soul cracked in two. the inability to integrate the traumatized child within. one hand avoids; the other destroys. the martyring of the self. what is more painful: to give up all hope, or to hold on to hope? 4k restoration a privilege to see. soul-wrenching to hear on a theatrical sound system. shout out to the guy who yelled "absolute cinema!" moments after the credits rolled. it was like hearing a letterboxd review in real life.

Some of the reference images I used for inspo. I loved the chunky orange cat with tiny legs, I’m assuming from a later period based on the style. But I wanted to get the scratchy semi-human face details from the 12th-15th century illustrations that we commonly associate with “medieval”

I finished this b-clay medieval manuscript-inspired cat today. Sent it off to the kiln for a final firing (with clear glaze on the eyes and nose). He’s out of my hands now. Good luck little guy
It’s a ceramic orange and white cat meant to look like those weird medieval cats but without any of the fun poses or props because I’m not skilled enough to pull that shit off. He sits with his head tilted and stares into the distance uncertainly with bulbous human eyes.
