English rules this network. Apologies, please use a translation bot. The now gone statistics tzar wasn't a technical expert: he was a lobbyist selected (because of that) by the prior and this administration to run Argentine statistics. So far, so bad. It will get worse.

"In 1910... 0.00001 percent of Americans owned wealth equivalent to 4 percent of U.S. national income. Today, that number has risen to 12 percent." Dahl showed the process through which oligarchy opened up to competition , and then the extension into poliarchy. Clearly, this is long gone now.
Standing up to Trump’s Imperial Blackmail on Greenland
If the European Union wants to stop the imperial ambitions of the man in the White House, it will have to do more than protest. It will have to innovate—and that means targeting America’s oligarchs.

In fact, while sold as a takeover, the only thing achieved has been the successful kidnapping of a big mouth but (more) ineffective (than his kidnapper) strongman in (to put it in Linz's terms) a weak post-sultanistic (far less than totalitarian) regime.

"For mature thought there is no mechanical substitute. But ... [for] essentially repetitive thought are very different things... there... may be... powerful mechanical aids." Base repetitive thought is now the rule, at the service of an obscene wizard of Oz.

US poverty line is kinda news. Yet it has not been properly updated since Orshansky. It's high time to use post-1960s ROW methods to see where it stands. Data is plenty. Methods (prior to the 2+ USD PPP and similar attempts to arrest/disguise M/SDG measurement) available. The will to use them, nil.

In mini-me-land, an attempt to erase Argentine claims over Malvinas-Falklands-Antartic territories (and then, trying to correct that "error", Africa and Europe, mind you) goes puff in a few minutes.

For the times they keep-are-a-changin.

Quirno se olvidó de las Malvinas y la Antártida en el nuevo logo de Cancillería
El logo de Cancillería solo duró unos minutos y debió ser reemplazado tras los insultos en redes. El sello tapa a Europa y África, pero no a China.

Anyone else remember that old SNL sketch in which Jon Lovitz is playing Michael Dukakis and Dana Carvey is playing George H.W. Bush and they're debating and in mid-debate Dukakis turns to the camera and says, "I can't believe I'm losing to this guy"?

Yeah, *that*

I sometimes worry I exaggerate the collective madness of our media but the people who cheered Brexit, Boris Johnson & Liz Truss's mini-budget are now applauding Kemi Badenoch's speech. 'Parallell universe' doesn't come close. I suppose her not falling over is a win of sorts for them at the moment.
