Common first-person pronouns in Japanese are gendered/ imply age/social role, so using an extant one is going to gender, etc. Murderbot. 弊機 is made up of a humble marker for "my/our" used in words like 弊社 (our company) and the first kanji for "machine". So it's kind of like "my machine", i.e. myself
