Unitarian minister at Cross Street Chapel, Manchester. Father, hubby, musician, friend.
I was grateful to see so many references to TDoR yesterday from local authorities and organisations, but I hope they appreciate the perilous state of Trans rights in the UK, and are willing to exercise what power they have to foster a safe world. Otherwise it's just empty words.

Excited (if that's the right word) to be at @uomcreativemcr.bsky.social 's "Heritage in action: legacies if enslavement" conference today. Really grateful they've put together such a compelling programme.

Happy Halloween!

Watching the Peanuts Halloween special. What kind of neighbourhood do they live in where Charlie Brown gets rocks instead of candy? To be clear, all the other kids get sweets 😯

Manchester Museum's Triceratops exhibit is fun and my 7yo had a great time, though it did bring this Calvin and Hobbes' strip to mind 🤭 h/t to Bill Waterson

My chapel has marched in Manchester Pride for at least 17/18 years (excepting 2021 when we protested their funding decisions), and in my time we've had a Pride Service, welcoming and guest speaker... (1/3)

What an awful experience. Having local people able to cover our neighbourhoods and investigate local issues is so important.

Boy the angry street preacher in Piccadilly Gardens today is extra angry. I can't imagine holding onto so much hate and vitriol and maintaining any health, physical, mental, spiritual or otherwise.

This past Sunday there was a shooting at a church near my hometown; now a synagogue a few miles away has seen violence. It can feel like hate is winning; but I think how people run in to care for the victims, give solace to the bereaved, and place their lives on the line for the sake of others. 1/2

The EHRC has locked the evidence away. A Freedom of Information disclosure shows the Commission will not release its consultation report on the draft Code of Practice until after the Code has been laid before Parliament and has become statutory guidance.

Manchester Pride in a week and trying to decide what music to blast when we're walking past the (blessedly small) group of bigots that gather to protest. Thinking either "S.P.R.K.L" or "Good Day" by @flamygrant.bsky.social . Any thoughts?
