Additionally, we can provide some descriptive statistics about student emotions. Economics is found to receive fewer positive comments, more fear, and less joy.

It is worth noting that the differences are smaller when using sentimental scores versus numerical scores, but still present. These difference are not uniform across disciplines.

Our paper shows biases against women & minoritized groups in teaching evals extend to sentiment scores of comments. Language (humor, looks, accent) explains ~30% of score variation & cuts observed bias between white men & others (incl. women) by about half.

What are *your* stakes in Trump's on-again-off-again battle with Fed Chair Jay Powell?

Let's dig into a pretty interesting natural experiment that I recently presented as part of my MSNBC segment, #TheProfessorIsIn

Ronald Regain was president during the 100th and Jimmy Carter was president during the 95th. The most vetoed period was the 93rd Congress (Richard Nixon was president). The most failed legislation was with 57 was the 105th (when Bill Clinton was president).

Above, I created an image that shows which congress has been the most active both in percentage of all legislation and in the number of new enactments.

The 100th Congress was the productive on a percentage basis and the 95th Congress brought the most number of new laws.

Have you ever wondered how many new laws Congress actually enacts? It turns out that a great majority of their time is spent revising old laws or passing resolutions.

A great website called Govtrack.us that has all sorts of statistics on congress' productivity. www.govtrack.us/congress/bil...
