Levelled up to fight climate, energy and biodiversity policy 🐂 💩. Australian but pro humanity AND the biosphere. Anti genocide (weird this needs saying). Not always anti market: definitely pro antitrust laws. Sometimes annoying. Need to stay Anon soz

Energy policy is not climate policy. The imaginarium of denial that Labor and industry have constructed and which Speers et al dutifully operate within avoids their confronting two policy 🐘: all fossil carbon mining contributes to climate change and carbon offsetting/capture, both 🌳 & 🏭, isn’t real.

Yet empirical studies keep the notion alive. Let’s think science in the large: we were able to evolve as an intelligent(?) species because, absent external forcing, the biological cycle kept atmospheric carbon stable. So why would it mop up fossil carbon? Offsetting is magical thinking not science.

They would have done the same job but been more explicit. Of course the Laborites would be having conniptions which would be helpful.

Richard Marles told them not to. And if the leadership decides the team is supporting the genocide then I think everyone should get behind that 👍.

Braver by far than the western liberal elites.

Empirical studies keep the notion alive. Folks really need to think and communicate science in the large. We evolved as an allegedly intelligent species because, absent external forcing, the biological cycle kept atmospheric carbon stable. So why do you think it could mop up fossil carbon? Eh? ….
valentenya.bsky.social
Thinking about the cost of acting on climate change and it’s kinda like the cost of stepping off the 🚊 tracks to avoid getting squished.
valentenya.bsky.social
No, it’s entirely 🐂 💩 to distract you from the central role of fossil carbon mining. Your edit is from down the 🐇 🕳️ they’ve dug for you. Time to sharpen up.

We need to understand university boards and administrations as part of the tacit(?) global oligarch led fascist conspiracy. This sort of thing is happening far too consistently to be written off as random or even merely creeping neoliberalism.

Once yapping moves to action the rubber bullets get swapped out for lethal rounds and people start dying. State execs are desperately hoping to avoid that. It may be inevitable but I wouldn’t want to be in their shoes.

The corrupt judges simply need to be removed. This half measures approach is largely responsible for the mess you’re in.

Do CBS News executives understand that MAGA will not be in power forever? I genuinely think this is lost on a lot of people. They've gotten scammed by bad actors into believing Trump's 2024 win represented something seismic and even permanent. I predict they'll look back on this as a serious error.

CBS News current president Tom Cibroski praised Weiss on the call, saying "Bari's energy and passion is infectious and you will feel it, big time." He also added that the Free Press and CBS News "are going to learn a lot from each other...that's what this is all about."

Yeah, let’s all hold hands and pray for peace while Israel murders another thousand children.

You think the politics that Gen X supported, that has put us on this trajectory to oblivion, should inspire young people?

Sick of The Guardian’s hasbara. And I will not treat one of the few times Palestinians resisted over almost a century of holocaust perpetrated against them by the Zionist oppressors as some kind of special tragedy. To do so would be merely racist given the wider context.

Insurance will be the least of our worries if we stay on this trajectory.
valentenya.bsky.social
It would help “social cohesion” if our media stopped platforming racists.
valentenya.bsky.social
Kinda thinking we need to hear more Palestinian voices. You know, seeings how Israel has murdered 100000s and persecuted millions of them continuously since 1948 🤷

Telling the rich what they want to hear is a ubiquitous grift these days. It’s pretty much the entirety of mainstream “journalism” now.

The number of scientifically trained people who went down this magical thinking path is kinda depressing. Just their failure to comprehend the basic maths is gobsmacking. I don’t have a lot of sympathy. Mostly they were looking for an easy way out and/or some sweet fossil carbon funded grants.
valentenya.bsky.social
Kinda think articles like this keep offsets alive by leaning into empirics over scientific principles. Science says offsets can’t be fixed because the theoretical foundations are bogus. Empiricism implies a theoretical foundation. It’s like doing endless ecological fieldwork to count 🦄.

This is purely fossil carbon industry disinformation from CNN. Unforgivable.
