New paper! The Increased Environmental Niche of Dual‐Mycorrhizal Woody Species. Ecology Letters: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

Dual-host woody species occupy a broader geographical range and environmental niche space compared to those associating exclusively with either AM or EM.
The Increased Environmental Niche of Dual‐Mycorrhizal Woody Species
Abiotic factors influence the global distribution of mycorrhizal host plants (ectomycorrhizal fungi and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi), raising the possibility that dual associations with both mycorrh...

#PostDoc Alert! #PhD in #forest- or #environmental #sciences, good publication record & interest in #ecological development of forests? 🌳🌲 Excellent knowledge in #statistics and statistical #modelling? 🖥️ We are looking for a 2-year PostDoc in forest modelling! apply.refline.ch/273855/1730/...
The Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL is part of the ETH Domain. Approximately 600 people work on the sustainable use and protection of the environment and on the handling of natural hazards.

The research group Resource Analysis of the research unit Forest Resources and Management analyses the state and development of forests. Therefore, we develop the empirical forest development model MASSIMO, which is based on data of the Swiss National Forest Inventory (NFI). In this new project, we will extend and/or adapt the functionality of MASSIMO to improve the simulation of forest development in accordance with relevant IPCC climate scenarios. We are therefore looking for two years (with the option of extension) for a
PostDoc in forest modelling 80 – 100% (f/m/d)

You develop a climate module that reflects the current knowledge about the climate responses of tree species groups under a wide range of site conditions in Switzerland. Climate change will be accounted for by expected changes in site conditions and phenology. To model demographic processes outside the current empirical range of climatic conditions, you link empirical functions of the demographic processes with process-oriented modelling approaches. Together with the MASSIMO-team you implement the new module in MASSIMO and apply the model under different forest management and climate scenarios. You publish your results in international scientific journals.

You hold a PhD in forest- or environmental sciences with a corresponding publication record and are interested in the ecological development of forests. Excellent knowledge in statistics (preferably in R) and experience in statistical modelling is mandatory. You like to work in a team. You exhibit very good command of the English language; good knowledge of the German language is advantageous.
