do you seriously believe you were entertaining (or even encountered) the oppressed people of that country?
“The general consensus is, ‘How dare you go to that place and make those oppressed people laugh, you fucking piece of shit. I can’t believe you went to that place. I can’t find it on a map, and this bot said I was upset about it so now I am,” Burr said in recapping the outrage. “It’s one thing to wear clothes made by sweatshop labor. It’s quite another to go to the factory and make ’em laugh. I can’t believe how much anger I had about this issue after it went viral.”

The Speaker of the House has firm views that Bad Bunny is a terrible pick for singing at the Super Bowl, but hasn't had time to watch the President's speech to our military leadership or form an opinion whether furloughed federal workers should be paid or Illinois' governor should be thrown in jail.

Stephen Miller said the quiet part out loud. Trump has “plenary authority,” then suddenly went silent. Their plan wasn’t to be public yet. Clearly, someone hit the panic button in his earpiece.

It gets weirder: CNN uploaded the interview with the “plenary authority” comment edited out.

Nbd It's just 528 megawatts is basically a good sized power plant for like u know to power a whole region but Google wants it just for them & for the power to be fueled by motherfucking diesel when they knowingly blackout the local power grid for the people who live downwind of it like me & my kids
criminalerin.bsky.social
Now Google says they need 497% more diesel tanks than they originally lied about needing and also they need 547% more diesel generators than they lied about needing and our city & county leaders are gonna pretend to think about it then say lol ok obviously sure

www.wane.com/top-stories/...
The proposal requests 179 generators onsite that will create about 528 megawatts of power, along with 179 storage tanks that will hold 1,074,000 gallons of diesel fuel.

The original request, approved in 2024, was for 36 generators and 36 tanks, which hold 6,000 gallons each of diesel fuel.

The elimination of USAID is a moral atrocity and all involved made a choice to enable, and then lie about, ending the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in the world.
MAE SOT, Thailand (AP) - Mohammed Taher clutched the lifeless body of his 2-year-old son and wept. Ever since his family's food rations stopped arriving at their internment camp in Myanmar in April, the father had watched helplessly as his once-vibrant baby boy weakened, suffering from diarrhea and begging for food.
On May 21, exactly two weeks after Taher's little boy died, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio sat before Congress and declared: "No one has died" because of his government's decision to gut its foreign aid program. Rubio also insisted: "No children are dying on my watch."
That, Taher says, "is a lie."

It doesn't make any sense to conceive of due process as a right that individual people can have or not have at all tbh. Bad framing from the start. Due process is a restriction on the government's actions, and by definition it applies to either everyone or no one.

Jack Smith didn't "tap" anyone's phone. He got phone records of potential insurrection suspects via lawful grand jury subpoenas. Just so happens some of those suspected of participating in January 6th were republican members of congress. If you don't want you phone records subpoenaed...

Feel free to attribute the following to a former OMB General Counsel: The supposed "new legal analysis" is, to use a technical legal term, horseshit. What the law actually says is that when Congress enacts a law ending a lapse, furloughed employees get paid at the earliest date possible. Period.
atrupar.com
Johnson: "It's true that in previous shutdowns, many or most furloughed employees have been paid for the time they were furloughed, but there is new legal analysis - I don't know the details, I just saw a headline - but there are some legal analysts saying that might not be appropriate or necessary"

BONDI: Sen. Durbin, I find it very interesting that you refused repeated Republican requests to release the Epstein flight logs in 2023 and 2024. Did you take money from Reid Hoffman?

DURBIN: I did not refuse
