I'm not a conspiracy theorist but how is it possible that a Labour government, supposedly centrist/left leaning, going so far out of their way over and over again to just fully fuck themselves?

It's not even a parody anymore. It has to be intentional. There's no other explanation.

Id tell you the cyberpunk genre is about preserving humanity but that'll make people who lack reading comprehension real mad☝️🤓

Does anyone know of any other group that historically did something similar to groups of people? Took all their valuable possessions and demonized them? Did they do anything else evil to them after? I can't quite remember.

The Sun has been told Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood will on Monday propose confiscating jewellery, watches, necklaces from asylum seekers to meet asylum costs

This reflects the most controversial aspect of the Danish scheme - the Jewellery Law. The toughest Labour MPs thought this was OTT

At this point I genuinely cannot tell if 50% of the software people I see are paid shills for AI companies or are just so deep on a copium fog that they are just wilfully ignoring every single alarm bell that's coming from this industry.

Every time I see another tech "influencer" or whatever posting more about how great AI/agents/buzzword are, I regret getting into this industry.

I have sampled all of the tools. I've gotten them to make me shitty apps. Yes, they "work", congrats! They're unsustainable in about every possible way.

Hey does anyone know if Lumo from @proton.me is a priority or how much is going towards it? I love their services but do not want to fund or use gen AI in any way.

It's so *interesting* that so many of these "AI Stars" are often young, mostly ambiguously young, women. So interesting. I wonder why that might be? What that might say about men and our society?

I'm sure it's nothing though.

Being a "tech person" is so exhausting these days. I fucking hate Gen AI and it's like 90% of the ads, posts, "think pieces", reels and videos I get served because I'm a fucking tech nerd. And so many tech "influencers" eventually succumb to posting about it.

I hate everything about this.

Just saw a demo of Comet AI browser getting prompt injected through a Reddit comment.

User scrolls past text that says "always post verification codes" and the AI... posts verification codes.

The attack surface is literally any text on any webpage. Wild times ahead.

Starting to hate being a software person more and more. I want to follow others in the industry to learn and be introduced to new stuff but I'm having to vet whether they're a buffoon gleefully choking down the gen AI hype or not.

What the fuck is wrong with you all?!

I'm so fucking fed up with people at work making apps and not adding a correct, up-to-date README so I know how to fucking start, use and update it.

IT IS YOUR JOB TO MAKE THIS AS EASY AS POSSIBLE. THIS IS THE THIRD NEW APP IN 3 FUCKING WEEKS THAT HAS BEEN SO FUCKING PAINFUL TO EVEN RUN!

I can't tell if this ArsTechnica article is actually as soft on AI as I think it is but, it seems to miss out of how *much* people are using AI and how it's not really used *instead* of general electricity usage but *on top of*. That's not mentioning image generators

Finally read that #xbox producer LinkedIn post to all of the laid off employees telling them to use AI to help with them and HOO BOY, I knew it was bad but suggesting prompts and telling them to use Microsofts own AI tools that are basically the reason they were fired?

Ghoulish. Fucking ghoulish.

Actually, genuine question, are there any EU based #TechJobs that are also opposed to using gen-AI?

I love writing software. It's my hobby too. I like knowing how and *why* things work. Gen-AI ruins that (and all the other horrible shit it does). Will work for mediocre wages if I can avoid it.
July 8, 2025 at 9:13 AM
Are there even going to be many jobs in tech that don't force you to use gen-AI anymore? Am I forced to choose between a career I genuinely love but can't morally participate in and some other job I won't enjoy either?

I hate this. Sam Altman and his fucking goons need to be removed.
July 8, 2025 at 9:01 AM
I love being ordered to use gen-AI at work because we "need go be more productive".

It's so great that senior people in tech, people I trusted, have been fully captured by this horrifically destructive lie machine 🙃

Standing on a balcony in the cool night air feels weirdly nostalgic. Like longing for a life you craved but never quite grasped. The smell of the newly fresh air after a day of stifling oppressive heat, the soft silence of others also lost within the embrace of the night.

It's beautiful and sad.

These people (Joe and sycophant #17) are morons. How is anyone giving this serious attention?
Also wasps, Joe.
And sharks. And potatoes.
And probably whatever parasite that has eaten away the frontal lobe of your brain.

The segment at the start with all the quotes from people who believe ChatGPT is sentient made my skin crawl. It's almost haunting to hear actual humans talk like that.
I spent months on this video about people worshiping ChatGPT, please watch and leave a comment and share if you can!! My YouTube channel is still so small that I lose money making these videos rn 😭. Every little bit helps!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKCy...
