the way her description of the chain of events contrasts from bsky's suggests that either bsky is lying (in which case she would post logs) or that she is emblematic of the stereotypical user/gaslighter who lies or omits truth after catching the hammer.

accepting that both sides may be concealing pertinent evidence, for so long as bsky team is not lying about her writing (see below) I can't find reason for anyone with community moderation experience to sympathize or trust her here without much more disclosure.

if you expect to lose because they understood it more maybe, but it's easy to rationalize that the other person is merely better at making their points, or that you are undertaking the arduous task of arguing a truth most people don't want to hear.

I kind of mess with the Trails take on the idea where internally the central religious authority knows that 90% of their stuff is fake but they're so old they aren't actually sure which 10% is real.

Itch comms and payment handling have long left something to be desired, rather infamously so. Thus it was sadly almost guaranteed something like this would go badly, given the general pattern. You're pretty much on point.

as a lay person it really feels like itch staff got way over their skis and never really scaled up staff competency to match the size of their marketplace. No PR team, lawyers on contingent, or crisis consultants.

ao3 lives entirely off donations and is way more professional in these aspects.

it's completely legal for visa and mastercard to say oh idk "no clowns" and cut ties with anyone who won't commit to the no clown rule.

assuming they truly make a good faith effort to onboard alternate payment processors to successfully cover most of the stuff Mastercard and Visa just blocked. of course.
