For those who struggle to get started and feel overwhelmed, Veronica Lewis has a great methodology for how to write alt text. This methodology has been referred to as "the Capybara Method."

Thank you so much! I love how you organize your posts on your website as well

Echoing @ericwbailey.website’s comment, I’ve had post ideas sit in my drafts for months or years because I thought no one would be interested in them. Many of them are among my most popular/widely shared posts, or the subjects of “fan mail”/thank you emails. Write on!

Other highlights for 2025 include the 9th anniversary of veroniiiica.com, I finished three semesters of my PhD in Education (where my research focuses on supporting students with low vision and CVI), and I have also updated 200+ posts and added many new ones. 2026 is going to be great!

Veroniiiica now has a text only view option that hides images and exposes alt text on all pages and posts— helpful for further reducing visual clutter and complexity. It can also be used with dark mode! Check it out by selecting the Text Only toggle in the navbar at www.veroniiiica.com

For teachers of students with visual impairments, Veroniiiica now has categories/tags for each of the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) areas! This is also helpful for students and families that may not have consistent TVI/TSVI access. Browse post categories at veroniiiica.com/categories/

I removed the background from several photos on Veroniiiica to make it easier to focus on the subject. This strategy is frequently used to make images accessible for CVI as well as for students with low vision. Here’s an example from this post veroniiiica.com/accessible-v...

I removed the post slider from the homepage and replaced it with a single featured post, which is much better for digital accessibility and #a11y. Now the Veroniiiica homepage has 16 posts on it, which happens to also be 4x4— perfect for Veronica With Four Eyes 😄

Veroniiiica now supports system dark mode! Post graphics and images also invert in dark mode, though photos are not affected. Learn more about dark mode at veroniiiica.com/dark-mode-fo...

Instead of using blurred photos or colorful backgrounds for post graphics, I switched to solid backgrounds in vibrant colors. This helps reduce visual clutter and improve readability— I linked an example thumbnail below, which has the post title on a green background. #a11y
