This was SB99 from 2023. I spoke against this bill on 3 different occasions on the house floor, including the "blood on your hands" speech.

I am glad this bill has been permanently defeated. And that Montana's constitution continues to protect trans people from government overreach and animus.

BREAKING: A Montana court just struck down a ban on health care for trans youth, finding the law violates the state constitution.

One thing that really bugs me about so many of the anti-trans arguments about sports is that they'll be like, "Lia Thomas was a giant! Clearly she had an unfair advantage!" when the reality was just that she was pretty much the same size as other elite women swimmers.

Wild how Shadowrun today feels like an optimistic alternate future. Native Americans gain independence from the U.S. government? A benevolent dragon becomes the president and governs by suicide? People still communicate primarily through message boards? Sign me the fuck up.

I know Lia Thomas through her wife Gwen.

She came to my wedding. She's one of the kindest women I've ever gotten to know, and the hate she gets is despicable.

Glad to see Parker cover her.

Convenience is a mere bandaid on a bullet wound. Just like with our infrastructure, our business models, we often personally choose the cheapest and/or quickest option that'll fall apart quickly instead of the option that will solve our issues permanently.
We’ve been taught to fetishize convenience so thoroughly, and the costs have been hidden so effectively, that we seek convenience while unknowingly reinforcing the system that make us crave ease in the first place.

We have to change this whole paradigm. My latest: www.jphilll.com/p/convenienc...
Convenience is killing us
Let me be the first to say I like my little conveniences.

Sad to see the guardian frame it with Israel’s flimsy cover for their crime against humanity.
“in apparent effort to force hand of Hamas” is not a good substitute for “in clear crime against humanity”.

This would mean the shutting down of Gaza’s only two remaining functioning desalination plants.

You know, to drink water.

Just FYI, Tom argued for universal welfare, abolition, public education, state-sponsored pre/post-natal care, family subsidies, & retirement for workers at 50 w/state pensions that would double at 60.

He also considered the American revolution a failure, co-opted by self-serving, landowning elites.

Billionaires want to defund your kids' education. A half competent opposition party could be battering the GOP with this and mobilizing millions of people.
Amid reports that Donald Trump is considering an executive order going after the Department of Education, Elon Musk is now saying that Reagan campaigned on ending the department, and that Trump will succeed where Reagan failed.

ICE keeps transferring people out of San Diego — whether or not they have local attorneys or family — and elsewhere, which radically decreases their chances of getting asylum.

For those moved to detention facilities elsewhere in the country the odds of winning asylum decrease greatly.

A man who has shown himself to be deeply sympathetic to Nazism might now have all of our Social Security numbers. That is a statement that would have seemed like absurd liberal hyperbole a few years ago, but is now just a neutral statement of fact.

The anti-transgender “emergency” change was issued on Friday and went into effect “immediately.”
