Unfortunately the world is on fire, and our President and his administration are not prepared to face it.

Trump shit his pants live on television and I barely saw any coverage? Granted there were more important things like the ICE protests or juicier things like the Epstein files but wow can't believe it went mostly under the radar.

Landman is probably conservaslop but it's pretty entertaining outside of the mother daughter stuff.

As much as this is a good thing, it makes me sad that it will probably take 5-10 years before we see substantial construction of these homes.

Elon is so uncool that Epstein made Ghislaine tell him all the parties were cancelled now.
Elon Musk visited Epstein's Island, news at 11.

This is straight up absurd, I need a hero to save LA from itself.

Though I liked Marty Supreme well enough and Timothee Chalamet had an amazing performance, I don't think it's strong enough in any category to win. That said, I would not be surprised at all if it wins something.
Here are my Oscar winner predictions, though some of these are based on personal feelings rather than objectivity:
Best Picture
One Battle after Another
Best Actor
Michael B Jordan
Best Supporting Actor
Benicio Del Toro
Best Supporting Actress
Wunmi Mosaku
Best Director
Ryan Coogler

I am generally for taxing billionaires, but I do not think that the proposed ballot measure to do a one-time tax on billionaires is going to work. I would rather have a frog in boiling water situation where we just keep taxing them slightly more and more over the years.

BWAHAHAHAHA
Here are a few of the emails from Casey Wasserman, current chair of LA28, to Ghislaine Maxwell in the latest Epstein files drop

Cases like these should be prosecuted.

2/3 of American households own their homes and homeowners vote more than renters. He’s just saying the quiet part of the bipartisan consensus out loud.
Trump: "I don't want to drive housing prices down. I want to drive housing prices up for people who own homes."

Yeah she can't do that per comments on this post, the office of the Mayor being so weak is a problem, but also she's a bad mayor anyway so it's like I hate both outcomes.
This is where @mayor.lacity.gov should tell Chief McDonnell that he is fired and the LA City Council should reduce the police budget to $0 until the rank-and-file decides they want to enforce the laws they are paid to enforce.
LAPD won’t enforce California’s mask ban on ICE/CBP/DHS

Every city in America (but particularly in CA) is sitting on a gold mine of revenue that would take a stroke of a pen to unlock: it’s called zoning reform

It magically turns one (prop 13-tax limited) property into *many* (reassessed) properties

Everybody suing everybody and now the LAX People Mover isn't going to be completed until 2029 (prediction).

Not only is this because we have to be the mature ones in the room, but it's also because we have Chuck Schumer playing against us.
This is the crucial part. Republicans knew how to use their minority power. Democrats appear to be frittering it away.

Even under SCOTUS's dubious reasoning in Trump v. U.S., there is no scenario in which maneuvering billions of dollars to an offshore account to keep it out of reach from Congress and courts is an "official act." This is all criminal and impeachable.
Marco Rubio: "The oil proceeds are being deposited into an account that ultimately will become a US Treasury blocked account here in the US. We will say 'this is what this money can be spent on.' They will submit to us a budget request -- 'we want to use the money on these things.'"

Can I vote for "generic Democrat" instead of any of these people, they're all downers and aren't good enough to be the CA Governor. Just need someone with a focus on bringing housing production up without all the goofy shit attached.
I also watched this, here are my high level takes:
Livestream of California Environmental Voters' climate forum with candidates for governor (Katie Porter, Tom Steyer, Xavier Becerra, and Eric Swalwell) happening now: www.youtube.com/live/OsLcWGl...

Unlike others I am not excited to see Matt Mahan enter the race, he just seems like a more aggressive Tom Steyer to me.

I also hate vagueposting with a passion.
At some point Gavin Newsom is going to be bogged down by all the positions he didn't take. I get it's still too early to start campaigning and establishing exactly what you want get behind, but this kind of shit ruins any momentum for his Presidential campaign.
What makes Gavin Newsom such a skilled politician is that he stands up to Trump’s bullying with piping hot memes AND is able to agree with Trump about policy

Need a San Diego results break out of this poll, I can believe these results for LA and SF.
A supermajority of Californians support expanding public transit, according to a recent poll by @envirovoters.bsky.social. Which candidate for governor will make delivering the State Rail Plan a priority? envirovoters.org/wp-content/u...

As I understand it a Zohran would be hard to do in LA both because of the political landscape (No unpopular Cuomo, not as leftie) and because power in LA is concentrated more with the Council compared to NYC.
