More than 1,000 words used as far back as 325BC to be collected for insight into past linguistic landscape
It is not likely to be a hefty volume because the vast majority of the material has been lost in the mists of time. But the remnants of a language spoken in parts of the UK and Ireland 2,000 years ago are being collected for what is being billed as the first complete dictionary of ancient Celtic.
The dictionary will not be huge because relatively few words survive, but experts from Aberystwyth University say they expect they will end up with more than 1,000 words. Continue reading...

I've been suffering from a bit of writer's block this past week.
My life has changed so much in the past few weeks, and I am no longer in the same headspace that I was before the move.

As New Orleans braces for the arrival of ICE, there is a particular stain that comes with hunting Mexicans and Central Americans in that city. These are the same folks who arrived en masse to help rebuild the city after Katrina and have since become a vibrant part of its renewal.

I've gotten questions of that nature from some people and I just kinda stare at them with a very smug expression without saying anything until they feel uncomfortable enough to ask why I'm doing it. And then I just say "Go on, what's your point?"

genuinely, I think it's a very good thing if you give the transfems in your life a safe space to talk about all the horrifically traumatic things they've gone through and also told them how fucked up some of those things are because we'll often downplay so many things and need to hear it
I am continually amazed at the things transfems have gone through and how much we all endure and still manage to persist. None of us deserve any of it, but we soldier on and sometimes it's nice to swap stories and commiserate about it
