It is abysmally bad marketing to release these movies on the same date. They’re going to pull from the same demographics unlike Barbenheimer.

TT came out around the same time the SW Prequels were coming out. I saw Patton Oswalt live in some small ~30 person venue and he was raving about how much better the CGI and effects were for LOTR versus SW.
Also, Michael McDonald (from Mad TV) did a set and was fucking hilarious.
