if there's a thrift store with a dressing room nearby you I highly recommend going through and picking up a bunch of things + taking a notebook with you and writing down the brand/size/fit-style/how you felt about it. You can take the notes to buy things in colors you actually like later.

Between graduating and doing the first draft of Beyond Bringers (2019-2023) I read maybe 4 or 5 prose books. It was a time for me to unpack the whirlwind of texts I had to read in rapid succession and explore what I wanted. Now I’m reading a different way, and enjoying it more. Life happens.

I know everyone’s always fussing about whether or not authors read, how they read, etc. it’s very important, but here’s the part not being said out loud. We all take breaks from reading and read differently throughout our lives. You can start again any day, and a break won’t make you bad.

It’s so cool!!! It’s such a good framework for where we are right now too. Our latest industrial cultural mindset shift is the Internet, and in a sense I think we have the very same anxieties just translated into new tech. I could go on for hours about how fascinating class was in the era too 🧍‍♂️
