The Terminally Ill Adults Bill requires careful consideration of the risks posed by domestic abuse (DA) & coercion. It currently does not fully tackle specific safeguarding concerns for those experiencing DA. VISION proposes 4 principles for consideration.

A brilliant, well-articulated and thoughtful blog from someone who has experienced violence and abuse and attended our June annual conference. . . it is vital to bring Lived Experience voices into violence-related research for depth, context, and insight.

Proud to have partnered with @vision-research.bsky.social & @rapecrisis.bsky.social on this important new research.

Sexual violence costs England & Wales a jaw-dropping £400bn. The govt must put money where their mouth is at the upcoming spending review and invest in specialist support services.
Sexual violence has an economic cost. Researchers say it’s more than 10 times higher than we think
Experts are calling on the government to invest urgently in preventing sexual violence and supporting survivors.

This important research from @vision-research.bsky.social in collaboration with @rapecrisis.bsky.social and WBG marks a shift in how we understand the impact of sexual violence- allowing us to look at the full, lifelong economic burden of one year’s worth of offences. The findings are shocking.

It was especially insightful to hear from Dame Nicole Jacobs, Domestic Abuse Commissioner for England and Wales. In her keynote, Dame Nicole reflected on the progress made by the domestic abuse and violence against women and girls sector, while recognising the work still to be done.

Dr James Rowlands’ new book, out 28 March, explores domestic abuse-related deaths and how reviews can drive change. It’s the first full-length study of Domestic Abuse Related Death Reviews in England and Wales.

An urgent and vital contribution.
