It explores the limits of census data in capturing women’s roles. Right now, women’s contributions—particularly unpaid care—are not fully captured, especially at the local level. Closing these gaps is essential to shaping gender-responsive policies and tackling inequality.

Scrapping the two-child limit at the Autumn Budget is the right next step to tackling child poverty. But half-measures won’t work – it must be fully abolished, or the children most at risk of poverty will be left behind. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

Great to join @rapecrisis.bsky.social @alexdaviesjones.bsky.social & School of Sex Education at the @womensbudgetgrp.bsky.social event on making halving VAWG a reality. If the gov is serious about committing to its pledge, it must listen to VAWG orgs and take an urgent approach rooted in prevention
womensbudgetgrp.bsky.social
Over a year ago the government was elected on a mission to halve VAWG, but it is yet to publish its strategy.

This is a vital opportunity to reset its approach. We call on government to listen to VAWG orgs, centre women and girls and ensure that VAWG is a political priority.

A 2005 study that predicted women would own the majority of Britain's wealth by now. But our analysis found a 21% gender wealth gap. As WBG's @ignaciapinto.bsky.social says, "our systems haven’t adapted well enough to share caring responsibilities more equally."

However, there is more work to be done. The Lords may try again to dilute the Bill. MPs must hold firm so rights are protected—and once law, we need fast, full implementation to deliver on its promise.
womensbudgetgrp.bsky.social
What the Bill means for women

• Job security + sick pay from day one
• Guaranteed hours (no more exploitative zero-hours)
• Family-friendly + flexible working rights, incl. paternity leave from day one

As we move closer to the Autumn Budget, Rachel Reeves must look at taxing wealth to raise vital funds for our public services and a well functioning social security system, with women relying on them most. Investment in our social infrastructure is key to raising women's living standards.

Women earn less than men and have less savings than men, and do 50% more unpaid care than men - leaving little room to take on extra work to meet these rising costs.
