America has 925 billionaires as of this year. Collectively they have a record $6.9 trillion in wealth.

The bottom 50% of Americans control $4.2 trillion in wealth.

When 925 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good & the very gentle & the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry.

Sadness arrives uninvited. Joy demands more—it requires us to search, to kindle, to protect the flame against every wind. When we choose joy despite everything that argues against it, we don't just save ourselves—we illuminate the way for everyone around us.

The most brutal way of telling someone they’re a few sandwiches short of a picnic that I’ve heard in French is t’es pas la truite la plus oxygénée de la rivière. It means “you’re not the most oxygenated trout in the river.”

Rob Reiner was the consummate storyteller. Over and over, he revealed us to ourselves: what it is to be young and have friends, to fall in love, to feel misery and vengeance, to feel alive. And the laughs. So many laughs. The loss of Rob Reiner is... inconceivable.

He's also responsible for raising all the money that paid for bringing Hollingsworth v. Perry & even more importantly Bostic v. Schaefer, which created the circuit split that forced SCOTUS to take on Obergefell v. Hodges. The role he played in American marriage equality cannot be overstated.
The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.

Rob Reiner was an American Icon who, through his art and activism, held a mirror up to American culture. His talent, humor, activism, and patriotism will be missed. Our heart breaks at the senseless loss of our friend.

On a personal note.

I knew Rob Reiner & his lovely wife Michelle. One of my happiest memories was chatting with them in their kitchen, making sandwiches talking politics, and movies.

They were kind people. Extraordinarily normal and very, very kind.

I love & miss them already.
Life is short.

MK and I cherish the time that we got to spend with Rob and Michele Reiner — we were devastated to learn of their passing.

Titans of the industry in every sense, the Reiners' legacy is secured through works of art that impacted generations.

May their memories be a blessing.

It takes a special kind of delusion to tell parents to buy their kids fewer toys and pencils while bragging about building a new White House ballroom and gold in the Oval Office.
Trump: "You can give up certain products. You could give up pencils. Because under the China policy, every child can get 37 pencils. They only need 1 or 2. They don't need that many. You always need steel. You don't need 37 dolls for your daughter. 2 or 3 is nice. So we're doing things right."

They learn it together.
