We knew this, but it’s important to study and document on a mass scale.

This is why we fund scientists to study things like oyster slobber even if you don’t think it sounds important

⚠️ Chinese researchers have invented bone glue that mimics how oysters stick to surfaces underwater.

The adhesive can reportedly repair orthopedic fractures in 2-3 minutes, even in blood-rich environments, and is bioabsorbable.

I think these new “recommendations”/non recommendations open up some fascinating questions about individual choice. Does this mean patients can get vaccinated once a month? Once a week? If it’s just individual choice, can they get two? Are there limits to this choice?

Assuming CDC formally adopts ACIP's recommendations, CVS tells me it will provide Covid vaccines without a prescription in all 50 states and won't require even self-attestation of a qualifying condition — "it’s up to the individual patient."

No confirmation from Walgreens or Walmart yet.

I have reached out to CVS, Walgreens and Walmart to ask how they will apply these recommendations to people seeking vaccines at their pharmacies. I cannot provide any info on how this will affect your ability to get a vaccine right now, because I don't know yet.

That is really all I can say about this week.

In case you’re wondering, it’s barely fall & our children’s hospital is already almost always full with kids boarding in the ER.

And the pediatric workforce is stretched thin.

Our system does not have the capacity to care for the influx of vaccine preventable diseases that is coming.

We appreciate you all, but our state government teams had to sit through ACIP, get no credit or bio line, and have to handle the fallout.

Unclear why anyone would want to be responsible for a policy change that leads to dead babies.

Thanks, I should have said US news and/or major news outlets. I know some African news has been covering it.

It’s unfortunate how saturated our “news” is right now with non-news 😒

Never fear my fellow ecologists, my 6 year old has sent his Mega Latías out to eat all the lantern flies. Problem solved.

Disappointed in the lack of news coverage about this Ebola outbreak - that appears to have a new animal crossover component.

Good news! Ring vaccinations against #Ebola have begun in DRC, according to @who.int:
“An initial 400 doses of the Ervebo Ebola vaccine—from the country’s stockpile of 2000 doses prepositioned in the capital Kinshasa—have been delivered to Bulape, one of the current hotspots of the outbreak.”

This research is supporting vaccines that prevent various cancers as well as HIV. This is tremendous and impactful work. House Reps want cancer cures for themselves and their kids also!

GOOD NEWS: Despite RFK Jr saying he would cancel $500 million in mRNA research, the House Committee on Appropriations has passed a spending package, that includes $1.1 billion for “advanced research and development” at BARDA, which includes research on mRNA vaccines.

I believe that gun violence is gun violence is gun violence.

I was a high schooler during Columbine and taught elementary students during Sandy Hook. I will never accept this.

I imagine it’s hard to fathom how much vaccination plays into the US economy. I would suggest looking back a few years when millions of people were sick and died from a circulating virus and we had to bail out multiple sectors and budgets still failed to recover.

That’s a pretty good idea.
