I work with cryptography but I'm not a cryptologist, so very open to feedback and criticism here. For example, I should probably highlight the weaknesses of this scheme with degenerative plaintext (m=0).

I always thought the canonical CBOR ordering of RFC7049 and the deterministic CBOR ordering of RFC8949 would be totally incompatible and break things for DAG-CBOR.
It turns out that as long as your keys are strings only, the order is the same.
