The blockade of Venezuela is a disgusting echo of U.S. imperialism in Latin America. We were lied to about Iraq and WMDs, and an entire generation paid the price.

Here we are again.

We cannot let a wannabe dictator drag us into another forever war.

Trump orders oil tankers blockade in Venezuela, labels Maduro regime a "terrorist" group
The escalation exerts unprecedented pressure on the Maduro regime, threatening to bankrupt Venezuela's already struggling economy.

They want to shut you up. To crush dissent. To end free speech. This is un-American.

In just the week ending September 6, the number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits rose by 27,000 to 263,000 — the highest number of applications in a single week since October 2021. This is what happens when you elect a man with five bankruptcies.

I, like many of you, am not only devastated but furious at the assassination of two Minnesota lawmakers this morning.

This isn’t some isolated tragedy. It’s extremism, it’s fascist violence, and we have to treat it that way. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Governor Tim Walz was briefed on ‘ongoing situation’ in which Minneapolis-area state senator and representative were shot

Had an awesome time chatting with Jon Stewart & @weeklyshowpodcast.bsky.social talking about how to fight the dumpster fire.

Gear up. It’s time to brawl.

The only moral position. Thank you @aoc.bsky.social for sticking to your principles. It's hard when it fees like the moment is fighting against you, all the more reason to be steadfast.

EVs are coming. The only question is who will make them. If the US decides to gut the incentives to make them in the United States, that is a gift to China and US automakers will likely lose out in the long-run, turning the US market into a gas guzzling island. Good luck with that.
Good piece by @axios.com's Joann Mueller on how the changing of federal EV policies could put US automakers (and many others) on the back foot compared to rising Chinese automakers like BYD.

www.axios.com/2025/01/23/t...
Trump's end to "EV mandate" could weaken automakers against China
Trump's policies, while meant to help the domestic industry, could leave it fighting China with one hand behind its back.

Very quick & necessary read. I tabbed many of the pages to things relevant today (so the whole book). I think the comparisons between history & the present were jarring. It is also interesting how easily some people can forget the past.
