He's telling us what he's doing. Using the military to suppress protest. At some point the opposition needs to listen to him and adjust strategy.

Trump: "The ones that are run by radical left Democrats -- what they've done to San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles. They're very unsafe places & we're gonna straighten them out one by one. This is gonna be a major part for some people in this room. That's a war too. It's war from within"

This is as strong as you're going to get from a member of the Democratic caucus in defense of the Constitution these days: "If this budget doesn't roll back at least some of the grave damage that's being done to the rule of law, then Democrats have no obligation to support it."

The US is financially bailing out Argentina to the tune of $20 billion after their right-wing government's policies screwed the country over.

Who will bail the US out after our right-wing government finishes screwing us over? 🤔

The big news tonight is two-fold — Trump's "domestic terrorism" memorandum and James Comey's reported indictment — and both are signs that Trump's authoritarianism is here. Now.

Both situations, though, show how weak Trump actually is.

That will be coming tonight, at Law Dork: www.lawdork.com

I've heard that! It's funny, since it means we're not quite so into navel-gazing now that we are advancing beyond Earth's boundaries, but I feel you since in my world the coolest volcanoes are all right here...on Earth.

UT Austin implements the #txlege demand that faculty not have an actual elected voice; instead the “faculty advisory board” will be picked by the administration.

This should, in a functioning system, put UT’s accreditation at risk.
In pursuit of excellence and greater collaboration in this effort, I am pleased to announce the establishment of a new, two-pronged faculty advisory structure:
• The President's Faculty Advisory Board (PFAB) will consist of 12 esteemed faculty members from across the colleges and schools, charged with advising on institutional matters and focusing on the best interests of the entire University. Deans and the Provost will nominate multiple candidates, and from that group the President will select 12 members. The PFAB will meet monthly with me and members of my leadership cabinet, with additional meetings scheduled as necessary, as well as ongoing consultation on an informal basis. It is expected that each member will serve a renewable two-year term.
• The Faculty Advisory Cohort (FAC) will consist of 60 esteemed faculty members charged with advising University leadership on issues and opportunities concerning different aspects of the institution. FAC members will be generally distributed among the colleges and schools, with at least one member from each college and school and no more than seven members from any one college or school. Members will also be enlisted in subcommittees, task forces, and working groups, as needed, to help undertake projects, studies, administrative matters, and strategic decisions requiring specific areas of expertise. Like the PFAB, members are selected by the President after a nomination process by Deans and the Provost. They are expected to serve a renewable two-year term.
Provost William Inboden will provide full details on the nomination process and implementation timeline to Deans, and we will share periodic updates as members are confirmed and meetings begin.

As a geologist with some experience working with biologists, one of my favorite things is when they refer to certain snails as "terrestrial snails." I know this is to distinguish them from aquatic snails but it also implies the existence of extraterrestrial snails, which I am 100% in favor of.

The year is 2001. Sinclair is using a tragedy to suppress what songs the radio can play.

The year is 2025. Sinclair is using a tragedy to suppress what shows the tv can play.

The year is 2050. Sinclair is perfect. I have no complaints. I named all my children Sinclair.

This isn't even a slight exaggeration. He is actively working on destroying the US's entire vaccine infrastructure. The HepB vote will be tomorrow, where they will get rid of the birth dose and recommend it at 30 days, dooming a bunch of infants to chronic infection ft. cirrhosis, cancer, and death.

Expand this to science, the arts, actual civics, etc.

They are bent on gutting all forms of powerful education. That's how you get a subservient populace.

Uuuugh. You can pitch "AI for nose hair removal" and have a billion dollars dumped on your head overnight, but perhaps the most important civic function in democratic politics is starving to death.

From my experience, they see us as much, much less than that.
