Ne samo da se javne institucije javljaju na telefon nego te zovu povratno ako sklopiš prije nego odgovore. Također dosta toga se obavlja preko mejla. Pošalješ info mejlom i ljudi to odgovore direktno.

Not the most pressing problem, but it might be useful to start reporting on ICE and adjacent Trump's shock troops as paramilitaries, since that's what they effectively are and experience from other countries and conflicts might be helpful.

This is a good post. Part of why I have limited my usage of Bluesky is that I believe that it is, fundamentally, doomed, and it is doomed because it comes from a previous era of social media, where social media administration could pretend that they are unbiased in their moderation policies.

I had to expunge my thoughts on Bluesky's current, uh, choppy waters into a proper blog post (which jay can't take down for being too mean or saying 'lol' in a threatening way)

This took absolutely ages, so if you'd like to buy us a coffee at ko-fi.com/cassetteboy we'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Happy 71st Birthday to Ruby Bridges, who at the age of 6 desegregated the New Orleans public schools.

She’s younger than 30 senators and our last two presidents—and only 7 years older than Barack Obama.

The past isn’t past.
Ruby Bridges, age 6 Ruby Bridges flanked by three U.S. Marshals on the steps of her school Norman Rockwell's painting "The Problem We All Live With," depicting the event originally published as a centerfold in the January 14, 1964, issue of Look magazine. Awful and dangerous to hear the Mayor echo the transphobic bigotry coming from the Trump administration. It's completely at odds with the values of our city and another reason why his single, disgraced term in office cannot end soon enough.
A screenshot of two tweets from the Politico reporter Joe Anuta.

The 1st: ".@NYCMayor elaborates on his comments yesterday that boys and girls should not use the same bathroom. He says he will review the policy of his own education department, which allows students to use restrooms “consistent with their gender identity” and potentially change it"

2nd: "He says students whose sex at birth differs should never be allowed to use the bathroom at the same time, regardless of gender identity"

So lovely that the bigots have the confidence now to just say "trannies" out loud at a corporate media press event. 😒

This gets to something that as a former stand-up I recognized but couldn’t name. A 31 year old professional content creator baiting 19 year old amateurs into the format of his choice isn’t debate, it’s crowd work. It’s debate-shaped crowd work farmed for content.
mikethemadbiol.bsky.social
One thing that I think some not-youngs forget (and is different from 20 years ago) is that Kirk used his ‘debates’ to generate video that could go viral and, to use an old phrase, catapult the propaganda. His debates weren’t in any way, shape, or form educational.
mikethemadbiol.bsky.social
When Charlie Kirk, who put together lists of professors he didn't like so people could target & harass them, used the phrase "free speech", he used it in the same way creationists use "teach the controversy." For Kirk, it was just another way to bludgeon the left and also to promote his propaganda.

When people say "We used to drink raw milk from our own cow and it was fine,"

That's... usually not the case!

In families w their own cow, the mom usually boiled it before using.

We just forgot bc that's a boring chore that mom did. And who pays attention to that?

It's ajvar-o-calypse. Just came back from an Eastern European store I usually go to and all Ajvars are 25-50% more expensive. Mama's (from N. Macedonia) went from $10 to $15 😬. Luckily found couple jars cheaper at a different store so stocked up.

No actually this is a perfect moment to nitpick this.

I've worked with convict crews on farms.

Believe me when I tell you, the LAST thing convict labor crews want is violent offenders with a track record of successfully beating people up.

If you're wondering why there's a famine in Gaza:

Food aid now comes through one (1) US evangelical Christian nonprofit. It didn't even exist until March.

They have only 4 dropoff points. And people who come to pick up food get shot at.

EVs reduce emissions by 73% over their lifetime compared to petrol cars.
Not 7. Not 30. 73%
And yet… we’re still debating?
The fossil fuel lobby has spent decades perfecting the art of delay.
Now they’re peddling FUD about EVs: too dirty, too expensive, too inconvenient.
None of it holds up. 🧵 1/8

Most of the internet used to be like this. This is actually the default, it took companies enclosing the internet and adding weird, soul-killing incentives to make people behave the way they do now. In a way, there is truly nothing special about Wikipedia except that it survived longer.
