My personal timeline is full of autistic people trying to explain that there isn't more autism than before, it's just that we're better at detecting it, and there's nothing more autistic than hoping explaining something at length will help matters when nobody is really listening.

One conversation we’ve been having about the line between literary and genre fiction is that it’s not about subject matter so much as the approach to it. Genre (traditionally) puts plot first. Literary leans more into the ideas.

I asked a friend of mine to help me get into reading literary fiction, so she recommended CHAIN GANG ALL-STARS, and I’ve been quite enjoying it, and a good portion of my reactions have been “oh this is like The Hunger Games with a much wider lens and a deeper exploration of character.”
