And, baby, that's showfish business for you ✨

That's right, this (not so Swift) star might be dressed for a new era, but has been hard at work for years helping us generate millions for restoring aquatic lands all over Washington. dnr.wa.gov/aquatics/she...
A stunning album cover with the words "The Life of a Showfish" in orange glittery letters. The album also features a geoduck, semi-submerged in water wearing a bedazzled top and looking their best in Washington's waters. On the back cover, the geoduck is wearing a new bedazzled top, and a Vegas-showgirl styled headdress, with large orange feathers imitating their natural siphon process. The list of songs is 1. The Fate of Ceviche, 2. Elizabeth Taylor, 3. Pearl, 4. Father Figure, 5. Largest Mollusk, 6. Ruin The Conference Bannquet Table, 7. Actually Romantic, 8. WA Wi$h Li$t, 9. Wood, 10. CENSORED!, 11. Siphon, 12. The Life of a Showfish (Feat. Sabrina Carpenter Ant).

Mount St. Helens was not getting attention for 5 minutes so she had to go dig up 45 year old dirt on everyone
emd.wa.gov
USGS has issued a statement noting that Mount St. Helens has strong easterly–southeasterly winds in the vicinity of Mount St. Helens, which have picked up loose volcanic ash deposited during the 1980 eruptions.

You can view the live web cam here: www.usgs.gov/media/webcam...

Nobody panic, they left us notes to share with you...

💡Know before you go by downloading maps, checking for closures, and checking fire restrictions
🥾Remember to leave no trace
💧Stay hydrated

Oh wait, there’s one last one...

☁️PLEASE DON’T SET THE STATE ON FIRE ☁️🌈😊
A beautiful piece of artwork that, one could say, resembles our logo. You have a salmon leaping out of a river, while in the distance the mountains and rolling hills are spread. And in the sky you see the bald eagle that our social media manager flew off into the sunset with.

For those of you trying to embrace HOA HOA HOA season, I hate to burst your bubble and tell you that it is currently smoke in the air, not mist

We would like to thank Taylor and Travis for showing us the only way to let Sparks Fly during wildfire season.
A screenshot of the proposal announcement heard around the world. Travis Kelce kneeling down to propose to Taylor Swift. Both are extremely responsible recreators and are staying on the trail that is surrounded by stunning floral arrangements.

We’re happy this suddenly-popular fella decided to maximize his golden years after a 47-year career working outside Washington. Thankfully, our GO map can help retirees from all over the world find some of our state’s most beautiful places. dnr.wa.gov/go
A man happily enjoying the view from Oyster Dome with his trusty barrel. A man precariously perched next to the mailbox on Mailbox Peak. Who is telling him that the mailman is probably not coming? A man and his barrel, staying on the trail. Responsible recreation applies in retirement too #LeaveNoBarrel A man and his barrel just waiting for the tide to come in at Murdock Beach.

I think I speak for everyone when I say if two roads diverge in a yellow wood...I WILL be taking the one with less spider webs.

Sunsets like these almost make it seem like a new era is on the horizon
A beautiful orange sunset over the water...other than that....not a lot going on at the moment

You can stay up to date on current smoke conditions (on the water or in the air) by heading to dnr.wa.gov/smoke

I know Deep Purple said “Smoke on the water, fire in the sky”, but I am here to set the record straight and say it is currently "smoke in the sky, fire near the water.”

The #tsunami advisory for #WaState has been CANCELLED. At this time there is no tsunami threat to the Washington coast. Check out www.tsunami.gov for more information. #TsunamiAdvisory #WaWX
Color graphic of the coastline of Washington State on the right with gray circles of seismic waves approaching from the left across the blue ocean. Black text on a green background reads “Tsunami alert cancellation for Washington State. The tsunami alert has been cancelled. The danger to Washington has passed and there is no tsunami threat at this time. More information at tsunami.gov.”

If you’re out in the coast, now’s the time to make sure you know where to get out of potential tsunami zones. We’re still refining the forecast for when waves might hit WA's shoreline and are expecting it to be several hours, but the sooner you know, the sooner you can be ready. dnr.wa.gov/tsunamis

Tell me something you thought you wouldn't have to tell the general public...I'll go first
An image of (what used to be a) picnic table, that has been rudely burnt to a crisp at one of our camping areas in the Olympic Region. The image has the words "Don't set the state (or picnic tables) on fire" in a kind font with rainbows so people know I say it with love.

Mount Rainier (Tahoma) is a little rumbly, but not to worry. We have all made that decision to get Taco Time too late at night and felt the consequences, totally normal!

As we've reported many times here at The Needling, there's nothing to worry about because: tinyurl.com/337t63zp

Makes me want a hot dog (cooked safely on something that is not sending sparks into dry vegetation) reeeeaaaaaal bad 🌭
A scene from Legally Blonde 2. The image starts with Jennifer Coolidge (as Paulette) saying "Oh my God! You look like the Fourth of July!". Then we see Reese Witherspoon (as Elle) wearing red, white, and blue, a Smokey Bear hat, a "Don't se the state on fire" sticker, holding a hose, and holding a burn ban map.

Hate to break the news to you, but this is just not how it works
An image of someone using their Instagram app to "filter" out the smoky skies behind them using an image filter instead of filtering the air in their home, using an N95 mask outdoors, or heading to dnr.wa.gov/smoke to check their local AQI.

Text on the image reads "Instagram filter? Not a real way to filter the air. It's Smoke Ready Week. Be ready to keep your home air cleaner than your Instagram feed."
