I saw a quote from the Klarna guy recently saying that people taking out loans to pay for groceries doesn’t signal an economic crisis, but is rather a positive sign that people are more interested in “liquidity management,” which is what credit cards allow. And what harm have those done ever!

These people have truly forgotten that legislation and social compact (though truly and utterly fucking flawed do not get me wrong) WAS the more fair agreement between them and All Of The Rest Of Us because the other option of rebalance and recompense tended to be more painful and permanent.

But nah, we live in a world where they’ll just invent a newer, smarter, more algorithmic bottom of the barrel and sell it to us (as a subscription, natch).

I do not know what kind of soul-depraved, money-huffing brainworms you have to be on to think “let people bet on everyday events to make the precarities we foisted upon them feel Worth It” is not an absolute bottom of the barrel premise.

They’re ghouls. Egoists, carrion feeders, and the rare zealot (for whatever flavor of accelerationism gets them off). All of them.
