A Labour govt that doesn't understand the effect of current policies on the morale of the working & lower middle classes is a Labour govt that will lose Britain to Reform

Right. So long as there's a differentiation between people selling their sole home in order to rent (distressed sales/retirees) and those selling second or third homes and rental properties, I agree.

Why John? That's punishing distressed sellers to get at former buy-to-letters. Far better to regulate buy-to-letters out of business with rent controls so the money stays with the right people and tax the hell out of second and third home owners.

As someone seeking to sell without buying it just sounds like another bloody tax. Also, who's going to trust a survey commissioned by the seller or the seller's estate agents? That's a license for corruption. Far better to get rid of stamp duty and ban second homes to free up pre-existing housing
