Over 40,000 protestors killed in Iran reports suggest. Why is there no the same level of outrage about this as there is (and should be) over similar fatalities in Gaza? Is it just lack of access to media?

Unbearable cruelty.
In October, ICE grabbed Maher Tarabishi.

He was a 24/7 caregiver for his disabled son Wael.

At the time of Maher’s detention, disability advocates warned that taking away Wael’s caregiver put his life at risk.

Wael died on Friday at age 30.

ICE caused his death.

They didn’t get to say goodbye.
Disabled son of ICE detainee dies after 30 days of hospitalization
It had been months since Wael Tarabishi seen his father. The family is calling on ICE to release Maher Tarabishi so he may attend his son's funeral.

Govt minister Heidi Alexander says they want to see "proper democratic values" back in the heart of Iran

Back? A reminder that it was the USA and UK who overthrew democracy in Iran in 1953 in order to protect their oil interests. A look at Venezuela tells us not much has changed

The left and green left need effective podcasts, and they need them now.
As Americans increasingly get their news from online shows, this media ecosystem becomes more influential. A new Media Matters’ study shows how overwhelmingly right-leaning this ecosystem is -- with nearly five times the following of left-leaning online shows. www.mediamatters.org/google/right...

Broadcasting every detail of the Bondi attack while ignoring the six young people starving to death in British jails & the 100s of 1000s living & dying under inhuman conditions in Gaza just tells us that morality at BBC News has collapsed.

Imo this is the worst betrayal of Britain so far: handing our most personal & national security-critical data to a far-right owned global corp already implicated in genocide via Israel's alleged use of Palantir targeting tech. Unforgivable, & guess who's paying them? During a cost of living crisis.
Our latest issue has just hit newsstands! Here’s a peek at what’s inside... 🧵

For our cover story, Mark Wilding from @libertyhq.bsky.social investigates how the government handed our data to Peter Thiel’s controversial company Palantir: www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/politics/dem...

I remember when I became fully UBI pilled during the worst of covid and that position is a lock for life.
TL; DR: the study found it motivated people to find work and it instilled confidence in others to leave abusive situations and enroll their children in extracurricular activities.

It also debunks criticisms that it's just a handout that'll make people dependent on the government.

Especially since all institutional pathways for anyone vaguely like him are cynically blocked. Just ask Faiza Shaheen. Why? Well the fear is that the actual politics would be popular
Perhaps it worked for him (don't know enough about US politics to know) but it's an all too familiar hope on the part of the British left - one that, time and time again, is sadly dashed when the results are counted and the analysis is done.

At least 25 states plan to cut off food aid benefits in November
The pause in benefits for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program would begin in states from California to Arkansas just before the busy holiday season.

Palantir needs driving out of British infrastructure as a matter of urgent national security. This is a hostile takeover & the fact Labour are as complicit as the Tories = the end of political trust.

Starmerism = austerity, authoritarianism, co-operation with the Israeli genocide & Palantir. NOPE.
Louis Mosley is quoted as saying that Palantir's strategy for entry into the British health industry was to "Buy our way in" by acquiring smaller rival companies with existing relationships with the NHS in order to "take a lot of ground and take down a lot of political resistance"

Same, and I am mad as hell about it. Britain is a filthy outlier that now won't even give boosters to former cancer patients in their 60s, living with one kidney and other immunity-compromised conditions. Both successive govts and the UKHSA have failed us.
If we had responded to Covid by normalizing masking, providing respirators in healthcare & adopting clean air standards…we could have beaten the virus.

We would also be seeing less measles, colds & flu.

We would all be healthier.

I believe history will see it as one of our greatest failures.

Labour is failing because the comfortably-off don't understand how desperate for culture and meaning the lower economic classes are. They talk about the "importance of jobs" as though servitude in any role for any recompense is better than time spent creating, connecting or thinking. It isn't.
