Weirdly enough, I think this works. No one is more insecure than a new ICE agent. They want to be the blonde guy in DHS’s AI Nazi posting so badly. Instead, they’ll be guarding indistinguishable suburban warehouse #16361 while inflated frogs and dinosaurs thrust in their face all day every day.

Local cops are not on the side of Democratic politicians or under their actual control. People refuse to understand this too even though we've been making this point for decades.

twice a year the entire U.S. press becomes a marketing extension of a single billionaire-owned retailer, and nobody in any position of editorial power thinks it's weird or gross

Columbus City Schools may have to stop bussing high school students entirely because Ohio law requires public school districts to prioritize bussing for charter and private school students - and the state is already fining Columbus more than $10 million/year for not complying enough

even setting aside whatever it means for the vote on the release of the epstein files, we're at a very grim place if the republicans are straight up refusing to seat people democratically elected to congress

Today marks yet another day that Speaker Mike Johnson has denied Adelita Grijalva her right to govern.

She won her special election on Sept 23rd but has yet to be sworn in.

Why? Because she will become the 218th vote needed to discharge the release of the Epstein files.

Say her name.

Good reporting on the South Shore raid from South Side weekly here.

Confirms one thing I was told but didn't put in my own piece because I didn't have a second source and it seemed too insane: border agents segregated arrested residents by race

Federal Agents Storm South Shore Building, Detaining Families and Children
Families were woken by flashbangs and helicopters as hundreds of federal agents raided their homes. Days later, neighbors are still searching for the missing.

Never before in American history has one state's military force been deployed in another state over its objection.

I say never because the Civil War involved states whose governments legally ceased to exist, their offices vacated by constructive resignation, with no legitimate governors to object.

I'd say they were very successful. Private land ownership is the root of so much evil.

Using AI to keep watching videos of a dead person is frankly sinister. Just reveals a culture obsessed iwth never moving forward or looking ahead, just wallowing in increasingly degraded and unnatural rehashes of its own memories

Zelda Williams urges fans to stop sending AI videos of her father, Robin Williams:

“Please, just stop sending me AI videos of Dad. Stop believing I wanna see it or that I’ll understand, I don’t and I won’t. If you’re just trying to troll me, I’ve seen way worse, I’ll restrict and move on.”

"I watched several kids cross in front of me and I just kept driving and one ended up on my hood somehow" fucking psychopath
Then it got real for me. A group of kids on scooters ran a red light on Summit and Warren Streets, the slowest rider ending up on the hood of my car as I was driving through the intersection.

A man was killed in a hit-and-run in Bernal Heights early Saturday morning.

The car was speeding down Cortland Ave when the crash happened. Residents say speeding on Cortland is frequent and want reforms.

We're so allergic to concrete we're bolting rubber to the ground but okay fine, I'll take it, this should last longer than a week

We've installed rubber medians along Thurman Ave for traffic calming, which we'll evaluate through the winter. This quick-build pilot project is an example of how our updated Complete Streets Policy expands our abilities to rapidly innovate and reach our @visionzerocbus.bsky.social safety goals.

I'm dreading just hitting the leetcode problem slot machine when I have verifiable sources/references that show I have been a good software engineer everywhere I've ever worked and I wouldn't have even been allowed to work at those places if I didn't *already succeeded at random leetcode problems*

Hiring processes are weird because I think my resume looks pretty good, but of course I could be lying about my achievements and that's why we have interviews but then you get to the first round of interviews and it does nothing whatsoever to verify that I am actually good at what I said I'm good at

I tell ya, maybe this whole Bluesky experiment isn't what it was sold to be!
wavdl.blog
It doesn't restrict anyone's freedom to do or to view anything on the site whatsoever, it's just the statement of an opinion on the suitableness of a type of content. And that's such an egregious affront to the purpose of moderation tools that they'll go out of their way to remove it?
wavdl.blog
Isn't "shame" like the barest, most non-intrusive form of moderation that can possibly exist?

It's the only naturally occurring form I can think of across all modes of human socializing. And that's going too far?

genuinely curious how different the last 15 years would have been if the europeans had realized earlier that relying on american tech companies was a mistake, and developed their own sovereign tech ecosystems.

This article at least contains a quote from Von saying something the administration did was "fucked up". So props to rolling stone for providing some shred of actual evidence towards this narrative.

Prominent influencers, including Theo Von, Joe Rogan, and Andrew Schulz, are starting to distance themselves from the president they helped propel to the White House.
