Calling English a 'rip-off degree' is one of the most blatant exhibitions of personal barbarism I've ever seen. You've demonstrated nothing but the poverty of your own mind.

Government using force against peaceful protestors including many elderly and disabled people. The best if the best who deserve medals not arrest. The government of erstwhile civil liberties and human rights activists creating fear and indeed terror
In the UK, you can be arrested for "terrorism" saying you disagree with a government decision
At an anti-genocide protest, a woman was arrested by the Metropolitan Police for holding up a sign reading: “I do not support the proscription of Palestine Action.”

One of the lessons I discuss in "On Tyranny":
Listen for dangerous words.
Text card: Listen for dangerous words.
Be alert to the use of the words extremism and terrorism. Be alive to the fatal notions of emergency and exception. Be angry about the treacherous use of patriotic vocabulary.

People recognised as refugees fleeing persecution & granted the right to live in the UK to be denied the right to be joined safely by their spouse & children.

This Labour govt is a moral void, a stinking darkness, an empty hollow of cowardice & contempt. #r4today www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

As more of my valued colleagues face the threat of redundancy, here’s a quick reminder that it takes years and years of public investment to train an academic. Cutting someone with this wealth of experience loose isn’t “saving” anything. It is a massive waste of our collective resources.

We flounced out of the EU on the say-so of politicians who lied to us. And what a total shitshow that’s turned out to be. The polar opposite of what they promised. Now the call to flounce out of the ECHR. By the same people. Telling the same lies. Has the country been kicked in the head by a horse?

The greatest crime of this Labour government (and you can say the same of most of European social democracy) is that it removes any rational hope of achieving a just society by democratic means. That conclusion leads either to cynicism and apathy or to ultimately self-defeating violence.
