Democrats have saved Republican voters from the Republican policy on ACA subsidies. Hope those Republican voters realise and vote accordingly in future
Breaking on MS NOW: The House just PASSED Democrats' discharge petition for a three year extension on enhanced Obamacare subsidies, 230-196.

17 Republicans voted with Democrats.

And the obvious implication is: how does the law actually apply? And what is the penalty for non compliance?
The Epstein Files Transparency Act is a law, passed by Congress on November 19 with an overwhelming vote. Complying with it was not optional. The Department of Justice did not comply.

I want to make sure this is very clear.

Anyone surprised?
NEWS: A source confirms DOJ has NOT provided Congress the legally required explanation for redactions in the Epstein file releases, despite a Jan. 3 statutory deadline under the Epstein Files Transparency Act.
Department of Justice Violates Epstein Files Law By Failing to Inform Congress of Reasons Behind Redactions
The Justice Department has now blown through another deadline.

The majority of people in Venezuela are probably tentatively optimistic about the US coupe. Hoping their optimism works out and the oil companies that fund Trump actually help Venezuelans, and they don't just vacuum up the oil profits for Trump's billionaire mates

It's investment in infrastructure. Invest in roads, rail, clean power, education and health and you'll see a huge return. Rich people sucking money out of the economy in vacuum up economics doesn't make life more affordable for the majority
New year, same reminder: The recipe for economic growth isn’t tax cuts for the rich. It’s investment in our people — in health care, infrastructure and education — to build a strong middle class.

You don't grow the economy through trickle-down nonsense.

Yeah, you need population growth to generate taxes to pay for retirees. Millionaires and billionaires are always triyng to avoid providing for the people who make them rich

I was wondering what Mamdani's first executive order would be, and I'm not disappointed by this.

He has wiped off the books EVERY Eric Adams executive order issued on or after September 26, 2024, the day Adams was indicted on federal bribery charges.

"When it happens, Republicans will object (and you can only imagine the meltdown Trump himself will have on Truth Social). The response Dems give should be simple: *Too bad. We have the power now.* A strong message must be sent to the country and future generations that Trump will not be honored."
Why every vestige of Trump must be torn down
He's trying to create a physical legacy. The moment he's out of power, it has to be smashed to bits.

How we beat back the corporate takeover of America:

1. Break up corporate monopolies
2. Continue building union power
3. End Citizens United and get big money out of politics

Let’s keep working to unrig the system.

So averaging $7,500,000,000 each for the 925. And $40,000 each for the 170,000,000. Something has to give
America has 925 billionaires as of this year. Collectively they have a record $6.9 trillion in wealth.

The bottom 50% of Americans control $4.2 trillion in wealth.

When 925 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

Witkoff told Putin how to handle Trump by pandering to his deluded ego. So no surprise Putin calls him before he speaks to Zelenskyy
Every single time Trump has a meeting with Zelensky, Putin calls Trump the day before and Trump’s position in the Zelensky meeting then mirrors the Russian position. The talking points are the same, with all the same lies. It’s a simple playbook for Putin and it works every time.

Guess we'll know in November
When we inevitably start removing Trump's name, images, etc. from everything the fuhrer put his name and image on, many whites will no doubt complain about it as an "attack" on their "heritage."

Education is the enemy of religion. As more people become educated on how the earth was formed, how life evolved and how humans interact, the less relevant the made up stories of religion become. We can now explain events that our ancestors attributed to god's in their absence of knowledge
HALLELUJAH!! Their attempt to brainwash the country into a Christofascist cult is backfiring.

‘The U.S. is undergoing its fastest religious shift in modern history, marked by a rapid increase in the religiously unaffiliated and numerous church closures nationwide.’

Need to better explain to workers that they do hold some power. Standing together they can get a fair reward for their work
Increase in productivity since 1979: 87%

Increase in hourly pay since 1979: 32%

Just so happens that ~25% of workers were unionized in 1979. Today? 10%.

As unions declined, the super-rich have taken a larger share of wealth generated by labor. We must build back union power.
