can you imagine being briefed in to the special projects at Weiland-Yutani and being told, "we are reconstructing the ancient biological weapon responsible (we think) for annihilating a precursor race. no, this is not a cult thing. we anticipate that this will raise quarterly profits by 9%."
can you imagine being some non-CEO higher-up at weyland-yutani knowing that the other guys are working on perfectly sensible methods of life extension and your company is working on merging humans with macroscopic tardigrades

If you’re asked to come up with a plan with too little information and not enough time, what they want is the illusion of a plan. A semblance of order. You don’t need to give to them order itself.
