When I was in high school debate, I had to do an extemporaneous speech on detente. I pronounced it "day-TEN-tay" all the way through.
Thank you to the lovely audience member at @hayfestival who shared that her daughter had once corrected her pronunciation of ‘epiphany’ and told her it should of course be ‘epi-fanny’.

I used that font debate as an ice breaker in our department's social space this morning. And I have doomed them all to using Comic Sans...because *I* like it and also I am a secret chaos gremlin.
