Here Comes the Rain is a phenomenal song. The Mavericks were a great twist on the country sound when I was growing up. A big loss.

RIP to one of the GOATs. Truly iconic guitarist. Beyond the work you know, go find "McLemore Avenue", the Booker T and the MGs album cover of Abbey Road. An icon of Memphis music and therefore all music.

I mean...
At this point, Penn State might have to hire Matt Rhule just to have somebody. And you know what Nittany Lions, do it. Please. Then I can get some Willie Fritz ball in Nebraska. For someone so far from his home team, at least let my local team be interesting.

This guy sure is talking about what his players want despite multiple reports of him ducking his players' team leadership council this morning when they wanted to talk to him. Fascinating stuff.

(Mildly) Hot taek: The Big Ten is easily doing more damage to college football as we know and love it and is simultaneously doing nothing to make their on-field product (exciting play, poor officiating, etc.) better but gets 10% of the hate the SEC does. This isn't to defend the SEC, but just saying

Giving up 33 points to Iowa is a fireable offense. Butler needs to go
I know there are people who think I'm insane to even suggest this given the stats, but Nebraska could take another step forward with a new DC. Watching the current defense set up with 3 down linemen and wider schematically than Iowa's offense is set up should be disqualifying from being retained.

This is a tremendous interview. I do need to get this book. I mostly am sharing it here because of the early discussion where Wright Thompson talks about not learning this stuff in school right down the road and having teachers call it "the war of northern aggression"

My grandfather was a very quiet man. He was a Seabee on Iwo Jima after the US captured the island, but before it was cleared. For both me and my father, this book that was less about the tactics of battle and more what those on Iwo endured taught us so much about his dad/my Paw Paw
