Retired Navy, love nautical history, history in general, literature…and Snoopy!
Love the Kent illustrations, they are the gold standard. Fascinated by whaling history too, have lots of books on the industry as well as have visited the whaling museums at New Bedford, Cold Spring and Sag Harbor NY ( where this was taken showing me with a Narwhal tusk about 25 years ago).

I’m a HUGE history buff, into natural science too; just finished this book on butterflies, now reading a Civil War book, after that a new fiction book( being released this week) and then back to history!

I think your right about the number of people; they have one every August aboard the last Yankee whaler in Mystic Conn, I hope to attend one day. Sag Harbor NY and Nantucket have one too, Moby Dick is my favorite book, I collect them…and Billy Budd’s!

A book you may want to read after you recover from the marathon is this one, I’m even mentioned in the acknowledgments! ( That and a similar mention in Matt Kish’s book is my claim to fame, Ha Ha!)

You’ll notice the ‘Joe Cool’ in Japanese pin on my hat..my Dawgs weren’t too cool last night! Oh well, the boys had a good season, at least we beat (FINALLY!) BAMA in the SEC Championship game!

Those are great…and I’ve been obsessed with Snoopy for almost 60 years!
January 3, 2026 at 3:25 AM
I have that same one, love it for the same reason..and I was born in ‘63. Also love this other one pictured here, it’s even smaller; your probably aware of this but you’ll notice the Everyman chapter is missing a chapter (Postscript) as the English edited it out of their original publication of MD!

I collect Moby Dick( my favorite book) editions too…as well as Billy Budd’s!

I just finished one on the Imperial Japanese Navy and currently reading an excellent book on the Monarch butterfly migration. After that it’s on to a book about this Confederate officer who was Jim Henson’s great grandfather; I’m all over the map!

The film was perfect, love the books of course. If ever in San Diego you must see the ship used in the film, I was in heaven that day!
