>> We unionized because we know that the current system of corporate profit-driven health care can erode clinical autonomy. This is not going to change unless we professionals force it to. We have a clear message for corporate executives: it’s time to put patients before profits.

I want to point out again that the conditions in ICE gulags are so bad that they're breeding grounds for tuberculosis, and that staff there routinely deny prisoners medical care. I wrote this in August, and since then it's only gotten worse, immigration advocates tell me.

Again, ICE tries to make you care less about this person by claiming that he had a robbery and drug priors, a disgusting, shameful move. They also include some words I don't recall seeing before about how great the medical care is in ICE custody, which is a lie.

Exactly! Nobody can see into the future and know, oh, I'll be sick on March 3 through 6. UGH. I hate it.

Also! If I was at the table I'd argue that it's bad for bosses, too, because people will wait to take vacation in case they get sick and need the days, and then take the days all at once at the end of the year. That creates a huge annoying bottleneck for scheduling!

I just came across this in a media contract for the first time a few weeks go and had the exact same questions. I don't think it's common but it's in some contracts. It's bad because it disadvantages disabled people, those w/chronic illness, and parents!
