#NCDs can't be addressed in isolation from social, economic and commercial determinants of health.

#Neoliberal policies have contributed to the rise of NCDs everywhere, and we need strong regulation of transnational corporations to protect health.

#SocialConnection is key to #MentalHealth, but mental health must be understood in the context of conflict, displacement and economic crisis.

Our statement at #WHA78.

We have to explicitly link mental health to #peacebuilding and tackle psychological problems at their roots.

As a parent I worry about the 🌍 my youngest is entering.

It’s an uncertain 🌍 ; beset by war, poverty, inequality, division; threatened by disease, pandemics and the climate crisis.

Health Ministers gave me hope as they expressed the collective will of the nations of the 🌍 to work together. #WHA78

A nuclear war would inevitably be a mass casualty event.

In partnership with @psiglobalunion.bsky.social, PHM calls for urgent action to resist the colonial, capitalist and oppressive systems that fuel climate catastrophe.

We need binding commitments to phase out fossil fuels and hold historic polluters accountable.

Our lives depend on it.

With Medicus Mundi ‪@medicusmundich.bsky.social‬, we point out that the plan fails to confront the catastrophic reality of the world we are creating – one of 3 degrees' warming.

We need corporate taxation, climate reparations and debt cancellation, not delusional incrementalism.

With Corporate Accountability @stopcorpabuse.bsky.social, we argue that the proposed document fails to name the fossil fuel sector and other extractivist industries that drive climate breakdown and its health impacts.

We should phase out these sectors, not partner with them.

On the last day of the World Health Assembly, debate is still raging on #ClimateChange and #Health.

A major @who.int Action Plan on climate and health hangs in the balance, as Saudi, Russia and others seek to scupper even modest action.

PHM has intervened with allies to inform the debate🧵

PHM statement to the World Health Assembly on health and care workers.

Laws must ensure that migrant workers are treated fairly and equally and that migration doesn't create health worker shortages in poorer countries.
