@allusionistshow.bsky.social Australian here. So you asked about Tony Abbott?

I think Oniongate was too memorable to need to be his worst offence. It was:
- vulgar to all people equally across politics
- easy to explain, e.g. to children
- easily memeable,
including into monochrome posters

Some of the nicest people I know are ex-Mormons

But this helps explain some of the nicest Mormons too: “TIL”

(The world is a bloody broad church. I should challenge myself, as well as others, to briefly state the difference between Trotskyite and Marxist, and Marxist and Leninist)

The last two reposts just go to prove — it's the virus you should be afraid of, not the vaccine

Even the AZ vaccine that was quickly withdrawn, only impacted me for a month. Vaccines side-effects strongly tend to be temporary.

Researchers in Japan developed COPMAN-Air, a highly sensitive method for detecting SARS-CoV-2 in air samples.

Tested at a fever clinic, it identified the virus in 95.7% of cases, outperforming conventional methods (60.9%).

The development of COPMAN-Air: A highly sensitive method for detecting SARS-CoV-2 in air
Several studies have successfully detected SARS-CoV-2 in air samples; however, in most of these, the focus was on validating the air collection method, and there was no report on the development of a ...

Toxic floods of lies on social media platforms like Facebook have destroyed trust not fact checkers. Let me reiterate: Mark Zuckerberg has never cared about that and never will.
"We're going to get rid of fact-checkers and replace them with community notes, similar to X, starting in the U.S," Mark Zuckerberg announces

He asserts that "the fact-checkers have just been too politically biased, and have destroyed more trust than they've created, especially in the U.S."

This is how TV *actually* looked in 1984.

Enjoy! I’ve been sitting on this half-finished for years. Adds a bit of fireworks to your New Year’s Eve. Enjoyed best in brightest HDR on a 4K display with headphones — produced in 4K300.

[email protected] is not a billionaire. But there are actual billionaires “crawling all over our democracy”, who won’t be curtailed by Labor’s donor reforms.

I spoke to Holmes à Court about how the changes hurt new entrants, and why that’s bad for democracy:

Simon Holmes à Court on Climate 200, donation reforms and why Kerry Stokes wields more power than he does
Labor’s electoral reforms are framed around diluting the influence of Simon Holmes à Court. But the Climate 200 founder says this will only cut the legs out from under independent challengers.

@therealjohnbarron.bsky.social That was an amazing segment on PEP, thank you for that! Brought back memories of a misspent youth listening to AM talkback (it all started with a Dick Smith electronics kit, hand built). They put telephone-audio (low-pass) filters on you and it was amazing! 269 0669

@karencutter.bsky.social once again, love the work of the Mortality Working Group

But I have a small warning / request: This link is the third item under "Covid Information" but is suffering from a case of outdated news. It desperately needs a header like The Guardian, "THIS STORY IS FROM 2021"…
